President's Message

Recently, I received a newsletter from Livingston Industries, our distributor in Kansas. In this newsletter, Keith Wasser had a list of questions to ask when comparing car wash systems. These questions, listed below, make the difference between frequent repairs & replacements and long-term owner satisfaction.

  • What is the thickness and grade of the stainless steel frame? Does the frame have leveling legs?
  • How are the belts tightened? Does the unit have adequate belt guards?
  • What type of pump is being used? What is the quality (and HP) of the motor?
  • What quality of solenoid is used? What type of rings and seats are in the solenoids?
  • What quality of unloader/regulator is used? Emperator caveat, because there are some really cheap ones out there.
  • Are the gauges dry or liquid-filled?
  • What quality check valve(s) are used? Are they brass or stainless steel?
  • Are the needle valves dependable? Many cheaper valves won't last a year.
  • Also, are there needle valves (or other types of shut-off valves) on all chemical lines?
  • Do all the chemical supply lines have strainers in them? Do those lines have shut-off valves in them as well?
  • Is any galvanized metal mixed with steel or brass in the plumbing hookups?
  • What type of brass is used? Thick-wall brass is far superior to thin-wall brass.
  • Is the unit pre-wired? Is the prewiring ETL/UL listed and approved?
  • Is the unit wired with the proper gauge wire? Is the wire color-coded to aid meter box wiring?
  • Does the high voltage box have overload protectors built in? Are all of the electrical boxes and fittings water tight? Are the relays high-quality?
  • What type of timer is being used? Does it have a Last Coin Alert output?
  • Are all supply tanks made of heavy gauge stainless steel?
  • Are the Hydrominders equipped with siphon breakers?
  • Are the pumps gravity-fed? Gravity feeding is far superior to injector or suction-feeding.
  • What type and quality of float valves are used?
  • Is the equipment module well organized? Are all critical components clearly labeled and easily accessible?
  • Finally, does the unit come with adequate, up-to-date documentation?

In short, you get what you pay for, so you deserve the best. Magic Wand is dedicated to serving your needs, meeting your requirements, and exceeding your expectations.

Sincerely,
